Welcome to Elderfield Elder Gem: Find the Lost Miner
On this page+
Quick answer: Get the Elder Gem by speaking to Mall Rat on Mall Mines F1, finding Douglas, the lost miner in Sealed Passage, and taking his Peculiar Offering to the passage's statue. Win the Gem Golem encounter, then return the gem to Molly in the Workshop for the Lapidary Table blueprint. If you already have the offering, skip the miner search and head to the statue.
Start Molly's task before searching the mines
Check the mailbox for Molly's letter, then visit her Workshop and choose Ask about a task. The current task record places the letter from day 5. Read it and complete the Workshop conversation so the journal points you toward Molly's friend in the Mall Mines.
If the Workshop is still locked, finish Helping Molly by returning Copper Ore first; the Rusty Pickaxe guide covers that unlock. Once inside, use Molly's task dialogue rather than treating an ordinary greeting as acceptance.
Follow the Sealed Passage branch
Enter the mines from the Mall Food Court and speak to Mall Rat on F1 about Molly's request. Follow the passage he opens. The route below shows the order of interactions, so you can resume at the first checkpoint you have not completed.
Workshop · Molly
Read her letter and accept the task conversation.

Mall Mines F1 · Mall Rat
Ask about the Elder Gem and enter the opened passage.

Blueprint: Lapidary Table
The lost miner is Douglas. His name in the current task record is more useful than searching for an NPC literally called “Lost Miner.” Older player posts also call him a lost farmer; they are describing this blocker.
Find Douglas when you keep reaching the wrong room
Search Sealed Passage, rather than continuing down the ordinary three-floor mining route. In release-player reports from September 13–15, players identify its narrow entrance and the section with wooden boards and boxes. Another distinguishes the upper-right NPC area from the lower-right altar route. Use those as dated landmarks, then explore the connected branches rather than assuming a fixed tile position.
Before another full circuit, open key items and look for Peculiar Offering. Having it means you can move to the statue step. If it is absent, return to the last junction and trace each exit, including the branch away from the glowing-rock statue.
One player found the NPC after a weekly layout reset. If every branch has been checked and the offering is absent, revisiting after the next in-game week changes is a reported fallback. Check task acceptance and inventory first; a reset is not a confirmed repair for every missing-NPC case.
Use Peculiar Offering at the statue
Take the offering to the statue surrounded by glowing green rocks in Sealed Passage. Interact there while carrying it; the offering record identifies the statue as its use target and says it is consumed.
Recover HP and prepare your battle items before the interaction. After you win, check for Elder Gem in key items. The boss record lists one Elder Gem as the specific Sealed Passage encounter reward. This makes the statue fight your target, rather than ordinary ore nodes or random enemies.
Prepare for Gem Golem's multi-hit attacks
The current boss record lists 200 HP on Normal and an Insanity weakness of 125%. If you already have an Insanity attack, it is a useful offensive option. These are source-recorded values; difficulty and temporary effects can change the battle you see.
Keep a recovery option ready: Heavy Slam hits twice and may Stun, while Frenzy Slash attacks three times. Heal before another multi-hit turn can finish you. Soul Drain can restore the boss's HP, so a health increase during the fight does not mean the objective reset. Build your next turn around recovery or sustained damage instead of restarting the task.
Claim the blueprint and actually unlock equipment upgrades
Return to Molly with Elder Gem and finish her task dialogue. Her reward dialogue exchanges the gem for Blueprint: Lapidary Table. Receiving a blueprint and installing the Forge upgrade are separate steps:
- Use the blueprint to learn the recipe.
- At a Workbench, craft the table with 4 Iron Bars, 2 Gold Bars, 25 Stone, and 10 Wood.
- Place it on a Workshop Forge upgrade platform above the Anvil.
- Check the Anvil's equipment-upgrading options and reserve Upgrade Gems for the item you want to improve.
The Lapidary Table record supplies the recipe and placement rule. If crafting is unavailable, check that the blueprint was used. If you own the table but upgrading is unavailable, check its platform placement.
Resume from the item you already have
| What you can confirm | Your next action |
|---|---|
| The task points to Molly's friend | Speak to Mall Rat on Mall Mines F1 |
| Passage open; no Peculiar Offering | Search the Douglas branch and check all connecting exits |
| Peculiar Offering in key items | Prepare for battle, then interact with the Sealed Passage statue |
| Elder Gem in key items | Return to Molly for the task hand-in |
| Blueprint received; table recipe missing | Use Blueprint: Lapidary Table |
| Table crafted; no upgrade option | Place it on the Forge upgrade platform above the Anvil |
If the passage stays empty after those checks and a revisit, keep the save and report the journal stage, offering status, game version, and searched branches in the Steam discussions. For other Mall blockers, use Basic Axe or Keys; their rewards belong to different task chains.

Route checkpoints
Read Molly's letter, accept her Workshop request, speak to Mall Rat on Mall Mines F1, find Douglas in Sealed Passage, obtain Peculiar Offering, win the statue encounter, and return Elder Gem to Molly.
Known limits
Source-reviewed route, not an independent gameplay replay. Current Wiki task, dialogue, item, boss and crafting records were checked October 10; September 13–15 player reports supply search landmarks and a possible weekly-reset workaround, not a guaranteed fix.
